Zakir Choudhury, CPA, has built a career on integrity, public trust, and financial expertise.

Zakir Choudhury is a first-generation American, a licensed CPA, a parent, and a dedicated advocate for fairness, opportunity, and community-centered leadership.

His candidacy is shaped by decades of professional experience helping families, seniors, and small businesses navigate financial challenges — and by years of living and raising his family in our community.

As both a financial professional and a community organizer, Zakir has seen firsthand the struggles everyday New Yorkers face. He understands how rising costs, limited resources, and declining public safety impact working families, immigrants, youth, women, and seniors. These experiences drive his commitment to addressing the most urgent issues in our neighborhoods: strengthening public safety, making housing and healthcare more affordable, expanding opportunities for youth and women, improving education and job creation, supporting senior centers, and helping small businesses grow.

Day by day, New Yorkers are experiencing higher living expenses, economic uncertainty, and a sense of being left behind. Zakir is running for the New York State Assembly to deliver practical, responsible solutions — from safer streets to stronger schools to a more vibrant local economy — and to ensure that our community is heard clearly in Albany.

Public Safety

Every family deserves to feel safe at home and in their neighborhood. I am committed to proven strategies that reduce crime, build trust, and ensure our communities thrive.

     My Priorities:

  • Expand community-based policing that strengthens neighborhood relationships

  • Support violence-interruption and prevention programs for at-risk youth

  • Improve lighting, security cameras, and safe corridors around schools and transit

  • Create stronger partnerships between law enforcement and community groups

  • Invest in mental-health response teams and crisis intervention services

Affordability

Housing and healthcare are basic human rights. I will work tirelessly to lower costs and ensure every resident has access to the stability and care they need.

    Affordable Housing:

  • Increase the supply of affordable and supportive housing

  • Strengthen tenant protections and prevent wrongful evictions

  • Secure funding for critical repairs in public and rent-regulated housing

  • Encourage responsible development that reflects community needs

     Affordable Healthcare:

  • Expand access to local clinics and urgent care services

  • Lower prescription drug costs

  • Improve mental health and addiction treatment resources

  • Provide support for caregivers and families

Youth & Women Empowerment

Our community’s future depends on empowering youth and providing women with the resources and opportunities they deserve.

      Youth Opportunities:

  • More after-school programs in arts, sports, STEM, and trades

  • Paid internships, apprenticeships, and mentorship programs

  • Expanded youth centers and safe spaces

  • Mental health and violence-prevention initiatives

Senior Center

Our seniors built the foundation of our community. They deserve respect, support, and access to services that help them live full, healthy lives.

  • Expand access to healthcare and reduce prescription drug costs

  • Strengthen home-care services so seniors can age in place

  • Invest in social programs that reduce isolation

  • Ensure safe, affordable, and accessible housing options

Small Businesses Growth

Small businesses keep our neighborhoods vibrant and strong. I will work to create an environment where entrepreneurs can grow, hire locally, and succeed.

     Supporting Local Businesses:

  • Provide grants, low-interest loans, and technical assistance

  • Reduce red tape and streamline the permitting process

  • Support street vendors and local entrepreneurs

  • Revitalize storefronts and improve commercial corridors
